Not long after the removal of The Wall, Berlin s brewery picture was of a duopoly of Berliner Kindl and Schultheiss plus a few very small craft breweries.
Now the duopoly became a monopoly after the Burger Brauerei was closed, however now Berlin has over 20 new enthusiastic breweries - and this rapid change merits the publication of this guide.
The book is arranged with German text in parallel with the English translation.
The bulk of the book is the Breweries, where each brewery gets roughly 4 pages charting the history of the brewery and their people and their brewing methods and their beers, plus plenty illustrations conveying their passion.
Following are a collection of beer tour routes and a large group of Beer Culture Sites including recommended pubs (136), bottle shops, with their location, opening times, nearby U & S services.
Finally a collection of beer related events, institutions etc.
For completeness the Berliner Kindl-Schultheiss mega-brewery is included which describes their histories and some of their former acquisitions.
