The Red Lion Brewery was founded in the 15th century and was acquired by the Hoare banking family in 1802. The book describes the early days of the Brewery pre the Hoare family interest and it's subsequent growth and their owners life, through the problems in the '20s and was eventually merged in 1938 with Charrington & Co.
