Published in Dec 2012, the 3rd edition of 'Century of British Brewers,1890 to 2012', is now Plus Plus! This is the authoritative directory of the known brewers of the British Isles (England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the Isles) published by the Brewery History Society. This edition is larger than the last edition, taking into account additional information and the growth of micro-breweries, and further research into the brew-pubs of the late 19th century; also some brewing towns have now been put into their original county to match with old trade directories.
As in previous editions the directory is in 'chapters' of each county (or equivalent in Scotland) in alphabetical order. Within each county chapter are the brewing towns in similar order, and within each town are listed each known brewery. Each brewery entry is a short history (location, when founded or built, owner/founder and registration, acquisition or ongoing, some info on buildings ....all dependent on the known history.
Finally there are two substantial indexes - the Index of (brewing) Towns and the Index of Breweries and Brewers.
