At last the written neglect of this great city's beer culture has been rectified. Expatriate Peter Sutcliffe provides an insight into 80 of the capital's best bars, pubs, boozers, Kneipe, Lokalen ...call them what you will...each having some particular atraction but all having good beer.
The entries are in the usual "Around.. in 80 Beers" style - excellent photos, concise information box with travel info, opening hours (& days), food (if there) etc. Supporting the selection are interesting articles on Berlin's current (& past) breweries, beer styles, the Berlin Beer Festival, and historical background.
The "pub crawl of all the cultures" is a very useful introduction to this fascinating city. Maps of the city centre and suburbs aid the traveller.
So buy the book , hop on Eurostar and the Paris-Berlin nightrain and you'll be there in the morning ready to sample a homebrew from Hopfingerbrau in the breathtaking new Hauptbahnhof.
NB 1: NEW: An Up-Date 2019 single sheet is included with the book describing the +/- pub changes plus 14 new brewpubs or breweries.
