A pictorial history of Halifax pubs containing some excellent photographs from the distant and recent past. The scope is not restricted to Halifax itself but also includes pubs in the Calder Valley (Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd (though not Todmorden)) and the Ryburn Valley plus Brighouse and Elland. The notes to the photos are very informative and many of the photos display signs and names of long gone breweries for example the "Dysons Home Brewed Ales & Stout" sign on the pub featured on the front cover. There is in fact a seperate chapter on Halifax's former breweries and unusually a chapter on Halifax artists - those who produced sketches of pubs. Recommended to pub and brewery historians and to anyone interested in the many pubs of this West Riding area.
